Dr. Li is a licensed acupuncturist in Oregon and holds Diplomate certifications in Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine from the National Certification Board for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (NCBAHM®). He previously taught at several acupuncture colleges in the United States and currently serves as the Dean of the Chinese Medicine programs at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, Oregon.
Dr. Li is a fifth-generation practitioner of Chinese Medicine and the only apprentice in his family tradition. From a very young age, he was trained in China in a wide range of traditional healing methods, including unique acupuncture and herbal medicine protocols passed down through generations. Alongside this family-based training, he pursued formal medical education in China and graduated at the top of his class from Inner Mongolia Medical University in 2001 with a medical degree in Chinese Medicine. He later earned a master’s degree in Chinese Medicine from Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, completing his dissertation research at the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences in 2004.
After coming to the United States in 2007, Dr. Li continued expanding his academic background by earning a master’s degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2009 and a Doctor of Education degree from Johns Hopkins University in 2022.
In addition to his clinical and academic work, Dr. Li is also an accomplished author who has published multiple bestselling books on Amazon. Since 2009, he has actively taught preparatory courses for the national acupuncture licensure examinations in the United States, helping thousands of students around the world prepare for professional practice.
Throughout his career, Dr. Li has held both teaching and clinical positions at several Chinese medicine institutions across the United States and brings more than 18 years of clinical experience to his work. Before relocating to Portland, he operated a private practice in South Florida. He specializes in pain management, sports medicine, internal diseases, gynecological diseases, and geriatric diseases.
